Brent Hayden credits karate for bronze medal
From a black belt to a bronze medal at the London Olympics. A swimming pool may seem a world apart from a karate dojo, but Brent Hayden, who today won a medal for Canada in the 100m freestyle, says that his experience in karate gave him the tools to succeed in swimming. It’s one of the benefits that comes from participating in many different sports and activities.
In this vignette from CTV, Brent talks about his realization that he needed to align his mind, body and soul in order to reach his potential.
And that if he wanted to be good at anything, he needed to go after it with everything he had. He had to do it with heart.
Great lessons for sport, and for life.
