Physical Literacy Summer Institute 2014

Teachers learn about physical literacy at summer institute

For the second year, Alberta’s Ever Active Schools program is putting on a two-day professional development program to instruct teachers on physical literacy.

The Physical Literacy Summer Institute runs in Edmonton on August 12 and 13 and is designed for teachers who are just learning about physical literacy as well as those with an understanding of it. From the brochure:

Participants will examine the impact they have on a child’s physical literacy journey, how to support the development of fundamental movement and sport skills and leave with practical tools and resources.

Highlights from the draft agenda include:

  • Moving beyond fundamental movement skills to a physical literacy experience
  • Developing confidence, self-efficacy and motivation
  • Teaching Games for Understanding

Registration, which closes on August 1, is limited to 50 participants.
