Albi grew up in rural England riding a bike to and from school and camping on weekends. After immigrating to Canada in 1981, he became certified as a UIAGM Mountain Guide. He has noted first climbing ascents on four continents including Mount Everest. He recently completed an MSc focused on the psychology of risk-taking in avalanche terrain. For 18 years Albi ran North America’s largest public avalanche safety training program at the University of Calgary’s Outdoor Centre where he developed a passion for helping beginners discover outdoor activity. He is now the executive director of the Outdoor Council of Canada, a non-profit focused on promoting and enabling outdoor education and activity.
