Raising a generation of inactive kids is AfL Role Model John O’Sullivan’s biggest fear

John O’Sullivan is the founder of Changing the Game Project, an initiative to create an athlete-centered youth sports experience, and put a little more “play” back in playing sports.

John started the Changing the Game Project in 2012 after two decades playing and coaching youth, high school, college, and professional soccer. He is an author, a speaker, a husband, and a dad of two kids.

Q&A with John O’Sullivan

AfL:  What is your biggest fear?

John O’Sullivan: We are raising a generation of unhealthy, inactive children that will cost society dearly in the future unless we shift the paradigm.

AfL: What is your proudest moment?

John O’Sullivan: The birth of my two children

AfL: What are your favourite ways to be active with the children in your life?

John O’Sullivan: Skiing

AfL: What motivates you?

John O’Sullivan: Summer camping season

AfL: Some other little known fact about you that you’d like to share?

John O’Sullivan: If I don’t answer my phone I am probably fly fishing

AfL: Please tell us in a few words why you’re excited to be an AfL Role Model?

John O’Sullivan: AfL is providing a great platform for parents, coaches, and kids to understand the need for increased physical activity, and the importance for making sport inclusive and enjoyable for all. I am honored to share our work and help to spread the word.
