
Recipe: Chopped salad
This salad is all about choice. Mix and match from the ingredients listed below and share your creations with us in the comments. Try challenging your child to create the most colourful salad, or a salad combining ingredients from every food group.
Ingredients
The canvas:
- Iceberg lettuce
- Spinach
- Mixed greens
- Romaine lettuce
- Sprouts
Vegetables:
- Carrot
- Beet
- Bell pepper
- Cucumber
- Bean sprouts
- Celery
- Mushrooms
- Olives
- Baby corn
Protein:
- Chicken
- Turkey
- Shrimp
- Fried tofu
- Bacon
- Beans (black beans, chickpeas)
- Nuts and seeds (sunflower seeds, almonds, pecans)
Dairy:
- Feta
- Goat cheese
- Swiss
- Cheddar
Instructions
- Chop all ingredients roughly the same size. Toss together lightly.
- Top your canvas with the chop mix.
- Drizzle with your favourite salad dressing and enjoy.
Tips
When making ahead, store the dressing separately until time to eat.
